Indonesian female Pro surfer from Nias Island sponsored by Billabong Asia
Yasnyiar Bonne Gea a.k.a Bonne Gea was born on Nias’s Island – Indonesia and raised in a traditional family and culture, both of which dictated to females that there proper place was in the home, not surfing with the boys. Undeterred, Bonne Gea hit the waves as often as she could, practicing day in and day out for more than fifteen years. She has since gone on to place 1st as Indonesian Women Champion / ISC five times in a row between 2008 and 2012 and to win the Asian Champion / ASC two times in a row between 2011 and 2014.
Everyone has the chance to surf, or at least try surfing, if they are determined enough to make it happen, at least half as determined as Bonne Gea was. Never give up on what you love! Bonne Gea never has, and now she is right where she wants to be, living the life she imagined for herself when she was a little girl.
